Must-Try Fish and Chips in Fife Our Family Favourites

Over the years our little family has been to quite a few chippy’s within Fife, these are the places we all agreed that we liked, yes even the five year old got a say in the chippy she liked the most! She’s a very head strong little lady when she wants to be!

Rinaldi’s Fish Bar, Kirkcaldy

This chippy is easily our favour in Fife. The staff and friendly and helpful, the food is great, usually when we go there I get a fish supper and it is without a doubt the best fish supper in Kirkcaldy, the food portions are usually just about perfect and the kids meals are great too. if you’re in the area I highly recommend this chippy! In addition it’s very family friendly despite its size. It get’s a ten out of ten from us!

Toby’s Fish & Chip Shop

Toby’s chippy is a bit of an institution, much like Rinaldi’s the quality is amazing and they are very family friendly, the area to sit in is comfortable and there’s usually something for the kids to colour or a puzzle for them to do while waiting for food. They also do great fish(although Rinaldi’s is just a little better) or a a wonderful smoked sausage in batter.

K&K Fish Bar

K&K is the compromise chippy, we all like the stuff and it’s usually good quality. One of its main selling points is it also does everything you’d expect to get in a Kebab shop, that way if any of us feel like “brown meat” as the oldest one refers to it as or a calzone as I usually order then K&K is perfect, the staff are nice enough and food is usually ready fast enough. If you’re ever in the area I’d highly recommend K&K chippy.

The honourable mention Kismet Pizza & Kebab House

Although this one isn’t a chippy when it’s late at night or the weather is just awful Kismet is just what the doctor ordered, the delivery guys are always friendly and the staff in the shop will usually fix any problems you have quite quickly, they spicy sauces they do are nice as well as some of the others. If you’re in the mood for a pizza, kebab or even a burger Kismet is defiantly worth a try!

Anstruther Fish Bar

Now let’s talk about Anstruther Fish Bar, honestly it’s over rated. I wasn’t really impressed with the legendary place that’s supposed to be worth at times thirty to forty minute wait, I have a five year old daughter those times are just ridiculous when you have young children I wouldn’t exactly call that family friendly. We have been three times and each time hasn’t been great, the staff are young and have absolutely no clue how to deal with customers and often seem rude. The fish supper is ok but Rinaldi’s and Toby’s are much better, it’s on par with K&K with slower service and staff who are just rude, after the last time we went there we all agreed we would never go back. Perhaps at one point it was a good chippy but now it’s just reliant on a reputation from a bygone era.
