Our Family-Friendly Parks And Other Places We Love
The Kingdom of Fife has some extremely beautiful castles and palaces built through out the area, these are our top picks for the area of Fife we would highly recommend should you be in the area and have a keen interest in history.
Falkland Palace
Falkland Palace is easily a favourite of everyone in our little family, recently I went there with the youngest one to explore during the medieval fayre. We both had a great time running around looking for the Lego figurers that had been hidden around the palace. The palace has some amazing history and the gardens are beautiful. When I asked the girls and my partner what was their favourite palace/castle, all of them said Falkland Palace. Keep an eye on their Facebook page and the National Trust website for upcoming events.

Ravenscraig Castle
Ravenscraig Castle in Kirkcaldy is another favourite of the family. Whilst it is not as grand or even maintained as Falkland Palace is, it is still nonetheless a place we like to visit. The castle, is beside the Fife Coastal Path, which is a path that I never tire of walking along. The views across the water and the proximity to Ravenscraig Park and the beach make it a family favourite as there is lots to explore.

Inchcolm Abbey
Inchcolm Abbey is a fantastic place to go with the family, its steeped in history. One of the things we loved about going to Inchcolm Abbey was the ferry to get there, it’s a bit of an adventure on its own. Find out more about the abbey and the island and visiting times at the website below.

Crail Beach
Crail beach is a great place to visit, the beach has fossils for the kids to explore and there is a coffee shop near the beach that does a nice cup of coffee. The views are beautiful and its vey peaceful our eldest could sit and watch the water forever with a cup of tea from up the hill near the walls of the castle.
Balbirnie Park
Balbirnie Park in Markinch is a beautiful place to visit. It is home to the renowned Balbirnie House Hotel and Balbirnie Golf Club. It also contains many beautiful areas for walks. There is a stream that runs through part of the park which is a family favourite for having a picnic during the summer, we highly recommend it.
